Cycling with your mountain bike on the mountain. |
However, the mountain bike is far from ideal for use in the city, although it certainly can be used, and many people use it in the city. The mountain bike, as its name implies, is a bike ride on Mt. Not a bike ride on the pitch. The mountain bike is designed for a very particular type of use, but use is generally not consistent with the city. On the mountain the mountain bike is superbly efficient, but the city is often very inefficient.
Most mountain bikes are made thicker and heavier tubes, and therefore stronger. This is necessary to shoot in the bush, where there are rocks, logs, etc., And where the terrain is much more inclement weather that asphalt of the city. But in the city, the tubes of the mountain bikes only make it more heavy. This makes riding a mountain bike in the city have to work harder than necessary.
The mountain bikes also come with rubbers typically Tuquito (knobbies). This is to provide traction on the ground, mud, etc.. But in the city, these tires only make you lose speed and nuevemante, pedaling over the account. Although you can change tires to slicks.
The suspension mountain bikes are often, sometimes as much backward as forward. This is necessary Mount, where the terrain is rocky, etc. and without suspension bike can be a bit uncomfortable to ride. But in the city, the suspension of a mountain bike is not necessary. The suspension also adds weight to the bike, which (again) adds unnecessary weight, reducing speed and efficiency.
Many of the mountain bikes sold today are not designed to stop them racks or fenders - both very useful for the urban cyclist.
Finally, the majority of mountain bikes sold in PR have between 24 and 30 speed. You do not need as many speeds riding in the city. With 1, 3, or 6-speed enough to all cities in PR. And if you live in a city with many hills, or make long trips, perhaps to serve you 10 speeds. But 30 speeds are not necessary. All these speeds they do is (again) unnecessarily add weight to the bike, which ... well, you know.
So if a mountain bike is not ideal for the city, for the reasons discussed above, what kind of bike is ideal for the city? The answer is a town bike . There are many types of urban bike, but in general I would call it that: 1) one with the least possible amount of speed (according to your abilities, and topography which mounts), 2) that is lightweight, 3) one that is comfortable, 4) which can put fenders and racks. Personally, I also like a bike for the city that you can make relatively thick rubber, but this is a matter of preference. If you like shooting with finite rubbers in the city, and if you feel comfortable on the bike with these tires, perfect.
Sometimes people tell me they have a mountain bike in case. Because with this single bike can do anything. But most of these people never ride in the bush. These people miss the pleasure of riding a bike in the city urban, and have a hard time unnecessarily. It's like if I dressed with a label to go anywhere. It is true that the label I use both for formal functions, like going to the movies. It is also true that other types of clothing would be more comfortable for the cinema. Only when I wear other clothes is that I realize what I was missing forcing unnecessarily labeled dressed to go everywhere. With the bike is the miso. When a person who has ridden mountain bike (outside Mount) lifetime urban riding a bike, you open a world of possibilities. The person then realizes that the mountain bike is cool to the mountain, but a town bike it is much better for the city.
Sometimes people tell me mountain bike riding in the city because they feel safer. But the real urban bikes are as safe as mountain bikes. There is strong urban bike, with thick tires that roll well on any road in PR When you go by bike, like when you go by car or on foot, you have to avoid gaps, no matter what type of bike you're riding. The sewers are not supposed to roll, not to walk anyone (if you're in a situation where you can not help rolling over a sewer, you should always cross diagonally). And the sidewalks are for pedestrians. The sidewalk is one of the least safe for a cyclist. The rider must, and must be on the street. The mountain bike does absolutely nothing to increase security in the city. Security is largely in your own hands.
Remember: the mountain bike is for the mountain, and urban bike is for the city. If you want to ride with more pleasure, more efficiently, and (why not) with more style, rides a bike in the city urban.
